Alwin Jolliffe | This is my story | Interview on SBS6

At 16-years old, I suffered from a severe blood poisoning. My whole life was turned upside down as I had to trade my soccer career for hospital visits and rehabilitation. As a result of this illness, my finger tops needed to be amputated. As I lost my sense of belonging in society, a Christian friend invited me to a concert in church. I didn’t know Jesus at the time, and agreed to go with him that night.

At the concert I saw young people singing, dancing and enjoying life. I wanted that same joy that I saw in that church. When the band’s lead singer did an altar call, I didn’t hesitate to open my heart for Jesus and invite Him into my life.

I started playing the guitar, despite of my missing finger tops. Now, I am a guitar player and use this gift in church as a worship leader.
